Telling Peoples' Life Stories

Welcome! Currently, 1001 Lives is an organization run by a small group of high schoolers who wish to tell peoples’ life stories in an attempt to understand more about deeper questions, such as what makes a person satisfied and fulfilled in life. Through approaching these answers in the lens of many different people, we hope to help inspire high schoolers to find meaning beyond studying in their own lives.

What We Hope To Achieve

A high schooler’s life is busy–that’s something we understand, as we are also studying ourselves. However, as an unfortunate result, many students don’t bother reflecting on life–many deep questions about living aren’t just unanswered, but aren’t even thought about. What’s truly worthwhile to a person after they graduate and head into the stage beyond high school? Is success really worth everything? How does one find fulfillment while trying to handle an intense workload?

Through interviewing many different adults who have gone through these struggles themselves, ranging from pastors to casino dealers to even illegal immigrants, we hope to help high schoolers realize there may be more to life than just studying, and start thinking about these questions for themselves.

Our Philosophy

Our philosophy is that everyone has a story worth sharing. Regardless of age, everyone has experiences they wish to share regardless of race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or other factors. And through us, those stories will be shared. Everyone is different and we believe that's a good thing; after all, the difference in peoples' stories is the entire reason our organization exists.
